Researchers at the Lanzhou Chemical Institute of Chinese Academy of Sciences recently developed a high temperature solar spectrum selective absorbing coating.

The technology has broken the blockade and monopoly of developed countries on the technology of high temperature solar absorbing coating materials for tower type photothermal power generation in China. The new coatings have changed the key technology of solar thermal power generation -- the situation that high-performance coatings are controlled by people.

According to the introduction, the high temperature solar absorbing coating prepared by the coating has good spectral selectivity. Under high temperature conditions, the solar energy absorption rate can reach 0.98 and the emissivity can be less than 0.35. It has excellent long-term thermal stability, corrosion resistance, water resistance, thermal shock resistance and cold and heat alternating properties. The comprehensive performance, especially the optical performance, meets and exceeds the performance requirements of the current tower type photothermal power high temperature solar absorbing coating.

Compared with foreign monopoly products, the coating has higher absorption rate and lower thermal emissivity, which can effectively improve photothermal conversion efficiency and power plant benefits.

The coating can be applied to different substrates, including low carbon steel, stainless steel, nickel based alloy and other metals. It has important application value in heavy oil exploitation, seawater desalination, heating, solar boiler, infrared heater, muffler, radiator, engine and so on.

As one of the most promising forms of photothermal power generation, tower type photothermal power generation is not only a new type of power supply, but also a stable power supply for peak load and voltage regulation, especially for the new energy sources such as photovoltaic power generation and wind power generation. It has become the focus of R & D and investment development of photothermal power generation.

The absorber is the core component of the tower type photothermal power generation that pforms solar energy into heat energy.

The high temperature solar absorbing coating is known as the core material of the absorber and even the photothermal power generation system. Its performance plays a vital role in achieving high photothermal conversion efficiency and power station benefits.

But for a long time, the technology of absorbing coating has been monopolized by foreign countries. Especially in 2018, because of Sino US trade friction, foreign suppliers stopped supply, seriously restricting and threatening the domestic solar energy thermal power generation projects under construction and to be built.

In the strategic emerging industries classification (2018) recently released by the National Bureau of statistics, the tower solar thermal power absorption coating is included as a "necking" technology in the solar thermal power industry.
